NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) -
With two SEC division rivals in a rematch and one of the teams basically playing in its own backyard, the BCS National Championship game is looking more and more like an exclusive event.
A quick scan of the auction site, Stubhub, shows just getting into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Jan. 9 will likely cost more than $1,000 a ticket.
The best seats will cost several thousand dollars each.
A spokesman for Stubhub said the average ticket price is about 40 percent higher than in the past, with a lot less volume.
As LSU and Alabama kept winning, travel firms in New Orleans said orders for ticket packages to the title game kept rolling in.
And, with less than two weeks left before the big game, they're basically sold out.
