NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFF) - It's not uncommon to see divided houses in Alabama. Many Crimson Tide fans live in the same home with family members who cheer for the Auburn Tigers.
But, with Alabama and LSU squaring off for the national championship, a different kind of Tide and Tiger living arrangement has surfaced.
Alabama and Auburn fans get a full year of bragging rights after the Iron Bowl. So, for an Alabama fan married to an LSU fan, the big game presents a chance at redemption, only a couple of months after the Tigers beat the Tide in their regular season matchup.
Sporting his white "A" on a crimson polo, Gordon Broussard showed up two hours early for Alabama's arrival at the team's hotel. He and his wife live in Lafayette, Louisiana. It's obvious Gordon is an Alabama fan. His wife, Alice, though, is a die-hard LSU fan.
Even their dogs are split when it comes to barking for their favorite team, as he showed in cell phone pictures. Theirs is truly a house of Tide and Tiger fans divided. Gordon, however, is not afraid to show support for his team.
"I work here in New Orleans and it just so happened to be one of the nights I'm staying here, so I was able to greet the team," Broussard said. "So, my wife is jealous, because she is an LSU fan. So, we have the house divided on two occasions this year."
Gordon Broussard was actually living in Louisiana and became a Tide fan while hunting with a friend in Butler, Alabama during the Bear Bryant years. He said he does, however, support LSU when the Tigers are not playing Alabama.
