Question:
As I sit here through today's thunderstorm, I thought of a question for you. I've been told NOT to use a telephone during a thunderstorm because you can get zapped. Does the same hold true for cell phones? Since there is not a landline, is it safe to make or receive calls on a cell phone during lightning?
Answer:
It is my understanding that while you should NOT use a "wired" telephone - lightning's electrical charge can travel substantial distances along telephone lines - it is okay to use cell phones.
Good question!
